DHL Global Forwarding Unveils New GoGreen Plus Portfolio
Logistics giant DHL Group’s air and ocean freight business DHL Global Forwarding announced the launch of its new GoGreen Plus Portfolio, offering shippers a suite of decarbonization-focused products, including an industry-first offering providing 10% emissions reduction at a flat rate across markets, shipment types, and routes.
Core Service: GoGreen Plus Base provides shippers with a default 10% emissions reduction for all eligible shipments at a fixed flat rate, which applies across markets, shipment types, and routes, independent of origin or destination. The service is fully scalable and available to customers of all sizes.
From Carbon Offsetting to Insetting: Real Emissions Reduction
DHL’s GoGreen service provides shippers with the option of climate-neutral shipping through investments in internationally recognized climate protection projects to offset emissions generated during transport. GoGreen Plus aims to offer real emissions reductions through carbon “insetting,” enabling shippers to replace conventional fossil fuels with sustainable fuels or clean technologies, such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), using a book-and-claim approach.
Kathrin Brost, Vice President Global Head of GoGreen Program at DHL Global Forwarding, said: “You don’t need to invest millions to make a difference. Any business can start small, with just a few extra Euros per shipment and without additional effort. This is a major step forward toward enabling more sustainable supply chains at scale.”
Three-Tier Portfolio: Meeting Diverse Customer Needs
In addition to GoGreen Plus Base, the new portfolio includes:
- GoGreen Plus Premium: Provides 85% emissions reduction through book & claim solutions, priced at lane level
- GoGreen Plus Select: Offers tailored decarbonization solutions with flexible emissions reduction levels for large GoGreen Plus customers, customized to individual supply chains
This multi-tiered portfolio enables customers of different sizes and needs to find suitable decarbonization solutions, allowing everyone from small businesses to large multinational corporations to participate in sustainable logistics transformation.
Market-Driven: Growing Demand for Sustainable Logistics
According to DHL, the new offerings are being introduced as demand for reliable emission-reduced services continues to rise. This supports the company’s sustainability roadmap, launched in 2021, which included targets to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and to use 30% sustainable fuels by 2030.
Amanda Rasmussen, Chief Commercial Officer at DHL Global Forwarding, said: “We are proud to introduce solutions that truly change what customers can expect from emission reduced logistics.”
Industry Impact: New Phase in Logistics Decarbonization
The launch of DHL GoGreen Plus marks a new phase in logistics industry decarbonization. By providing standardized, scalable emissions reduction solutions, DHL enables more businesses to participate in sustainable logistics practices at affordable costs. This has significant implications for driving green transformation across the entire supply chain ecosystem.
In particular, GoGreen Plus Base’s 10% default emissions reduction lowers the barrier for businesses to engage in sustainable logistics. Companies can begin their decarbonization journey without making large-scale investments or complex technological upgrades.
ESG Compliance and Corporate Social Responsibility
As global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) regulatory requirements become increasingly stringent, businesses face growing pressure to reduce emissions. DHL GoGreen Plus provides enterprises with practical tools to meet ESG compliance requirements while enhancing their corporate social responsibility image.
For Chinese companies expanding overseas, adopting such sustainable logistics solutions not only helps meet environmental requirements in international markets but also enhances brand image among international consumers, strengthening competitiveness.
Future Outlook: Sustainable Logistics Becomes Standard
As more logistics companies launch similar decarbonization services, sustainable logistics is transitioning from an “option” to a “requirement.” DHL’s GoGreen Plus portfolio sets a benchmark for the industry and is expected to drive more logistics providers to follow suit, jointly promoting green transformation of global supply chains.
By 2030, when DHL achieves its 30% sustainable fuel usage target, the carbon footprint of the global logistics industry will be significantly reduced, making an important contribution to addressing climate change.
