According to VentureSquare, South Korean 3D machine-vision startup Klerobotics has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Global TIPS R&D program, securing 5 billion won in government funding for a four-year project to develop an AI-powered bin-picking platform for logistics automation.
Project scope and technical targets
The project, titled “Development of a Bin Picking Platform Integrated with a Small, Large-Area Multiscale Structured Light 3D Vision Camera and a Controller Dedicated to AI Grasping and Low-Power Autonomous Learning,” will run until June 2030 with a total R&D budget of 6.2 billion won. The company aims to achieve a 3D measurement precision of 0.1 mm or less, a picking success rate of 99% or more, and system power consumption of 50 W or less.
The system integrates a compact, low-power 3D camera and a large-area camera that measures wide work areas, combining AI-based object recognition and robot control into a single platform. It is designed to handle irregularly stacked boxes, plastic bags, and envelopes in logistics centers—objects that differ significantly from standardized automotive parts.
From automotive to logistics
Klerobotics has already validated its technology in automotive manufacturing, supplying its CoPick3D solution to Hyundai Motor’s Ulsan EV plant and Kia’s Hwaseong plant. The company also developed the Fine Localizer for high-precision position measurement and the Fine Inspector for inspection, and recently launched Clevis, a low-code workflow engine that integrates these machine-vision capabilities.
Founded in 2021, Klerobotics has been successively selected for TIPS, Scale-up TIPS, and Post-TIPS programs. The company has attracted approximately 20.7 billion won in cumulative investment, including a Series A round in 2025 from SBVA, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Kolon Investment, and FuturePlay. In the same year, revenue reached 4.2 billion won, an increase of about 2.5 times compared to the previous year.
Commercialization and global expansion
Klerobotics is focusing on reducing installation time and cost—a key barrier to automation adoption in logistics, where workpieces, lighting, and process configurations vary by site. By bundling 3D cameras and recognition/control software into a standardized platform, the company aims to leverage its automotive references to enter the global logistics automation market.
