DHL breaks ground on $71M logistics campus in Hung Yen

According to en.vietnamplus.vn, DHL Supply Chain broke ground on July 24, 2026, for a $71.69 million logistics campus in Hung Yen province, northern Vietnam — an investment valued at 63 million EUR.

DHL North Logistics Campus: Scale and Strategic Access

The facility, named the DHL North Logistics Campus, will span more than 82,500 square metres. Its first phase — scheduled for completion in the first half of 2027 — will deliver approximately 41,180 square metres of warehouse space. A second phase is set to begin construction in the second half of 2028. According to the company, the campus will provide direct access to the Ha Noi–Hai Phong Expressway, linking Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and Hai Phong Port, the largest deep-sea port in northern Vietnam.

Vietnam’s Trade Momentum and DHL’s Growth Commitment

Steve Walker, CEO of DHL Supply Chain’s Thailand–Vietnam Cluster, stated that Vietnam is projected to record the world’s fourth-largest increase in merchandise trade volume between 2026 and 2030, behind only China, India, and the US. He added that trade is expected to grow by about 6% annually over that period. Exports account for approximately 87% of Vietnam’s gross domestic product — making it one of the most export-oriented economies globally.

“Vietnam continues to be one of the most exciting growth markets in the region and this investment reflects our confidence in its future.” — Steve Walker, CEO of DHL Supply Chain’s Thailand-Vietnam Cluster

The investment aligns with Vietnam’s national logistics development strategy for 2025–35, which prioritises modern infrastructure including large-scale logistics hubs, upgraded ports and airports, smart warehousing, and green logistics. Bertrand Juvigny, Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain Vietnam, emphasized that the project reinforces DHL’s long-term commitment: “This investment reflects our strong growth ambitions in Vietnam and our determination to continue building world-class logistics infrastructure to support economic development, attract investment, create jobs, and strengthen supply chains across the region.”

Regional Significance and Industrial Ecosystem Integration

Hung Yen is emerging as one of northern Vietnam’s most strategic manufacturing and logistics locations. The campus will serve multiple high-priority sectors, including technology, automotive, industrial manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, healthcare, and life sciences. According to Lam Duc Thuan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, the project will help strengthen logistics infrastructure, improve warehousing and distribution services, and directly support the 4,189 valid investment projects currently operating in the province — comprising 3,219 domestic and 970 foreign-invested ventures, with combined registered capital totaling around $49.4 billion.

“The latest DHL Global Connectedness Report highlights Vietnam’s rising importance in global trade. Trade is Vietnam’s strongest pillar of global connectedness, ranking ninth worldwide.” — Bertrand Juvigny, Managing Director of DHL Supply Chain Vietnam

The Hung Yen project will be DHL Supply Chain’s largest premium Grade-A logistics campus in Southeast Asia. It also follows broader provincial momentum: Hung Yen attracted 179 new investment projects in the first half of 2026 alone. Provincial authorities have pledged continued administrative support to facilitate implementation and long-term investor engagement — particularly with Japanese partners, following the June 3, 2026, Vietnam–Japan Connectivity Programme co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.
