Stow Launches First US Factory: Georgia Racking Plant Opens

According to www.dcvelocity.com, Belgian racking and storage solution provider Stow has opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility — a fully automated racking production plant in Gordon County, Georgia. The move marks a “major milestone” in Stow’s North American expansion strategy and represents the company’s inaugural manufacturing footprint in the United States, supplementing its existing office in Romeoville, Illinois, and other manufacturing plants in Europe.

Strategic Local Production for Speed and Compliance

The Georgia facility is designed to enable Stow to serve the U.S. market with greater speed and flexibility. It will produce locally manufactured, high-quality racking systems that meet strict domestic standards, according to the source.

U.S. Market Launch of Stow Atlas 4.0 Pallet Shuttle System

Concurrent with the factory opening, Stow introduced its Stow Atlas 4.0 — a next-generation pallet shuttle system engineered for high-density storage — into the U.S. market last week. The launch was highlighted at MODEX 2026, held April 13–16 in Atlanta, Georgia, where Stow exhibited alongside Movu Robotics, a brand under the Stow Group umbrella. The joint presence underscored the integration between static racking infrastructure and automated robotics solutions.

Broader Industry Context for Supply Chain Professionals

This development reflects a wider industry trend toward localized, automated infrastructure investment. As labor shortages persist and demand for warehouse automation intensifies, global material handling providers are increasingly establishing onshore manufacturing to reduce lead times, mitigate supply chain volatility, and ensure compliance with regional safety and performance requirements. For supply chain professionals, Stow’s Georgia plant signals growing availability of domestically produced, robotics-ready racking — potentially shortening procurement cycles and simplifying integration with AMRs and shuttle systems from vendors like Locus Robotics and Fanuc, both of which also showcased new automation capabilities at MODEX 2026. Notably, Roboteon’s newly launched ‘Robotics Investment Impact Analysis’ tool — also debuted at MODEX — offers practitioners a vendor-independent method to simulate ROI and operational impact before committing to such integrated infrastructure upgrades.
