这就是为什么在假期期间运输包裹会更贵的原因

Author: Dallas Gagnon | MassLive.com

The United States Postal Service (USPS) plans to temporarily increase shipping rates next month, citing the “2024 holiday peak season.”

This price hike has been approved by postal governors on August 8 and is pending review by the Postal Regulatory Commission. The adjustment will affect Priority Express, Priority Mail, and USPS Ground Advantage parcel prices for approximately three months.

“This temporary price adjustment is to help cover additional processing costs to ensure a successful holiday peak season,” USPS announced in a release.

Priority Express includes options for next-day or two-day delivery. Some packages using these options may see an increase of up to $16, depending on weight and distance.

Prior Mail is also included in the proposed price hike, allowing customers to deliver parcels within 1-3 days with tracking for weights up to 70 pounds.

USPS Ground Advantage shipping is for customers who want to ship and receive packages within 2-5 days at a starting rate of $5 per package.

If approved, the temporary price increase for Ground Advantage could be as high as $5.85, depending on weight and distance.

The new prices will take effect at midnight Central Time on October 6 and continue until midnight on January 19, 2025.

As part of USPS’s ten-year strategic plan “Delivering for America,” these temporary changes “will support the Postal Service in creating a renewed organization.”
