### Key Points:
– EasyPost now offers Amazon Shipping as a delivery option for its users, the shipping software provider announced last week.
– Carriers must be Amazon sellers to qualify for Amazon Shipping rates, but they can use the service for orders placed outside of the e-commerce giant’s marketplace, according to Lori Boyer, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at EasyPost, in an email to Supply Chain Dive.
– Since its relaunch in 2023, Amazon Shipping has expanded its roster of third-party partners, making it easier for brands to access the service through platforms they already use. In addition to EasyPost, the service integrates with ShipStation, Veeqo, Sellercloud, Descartes ShipRush, and others.
### Insights:
Amazon Shipping has the potential to challenge leading parcel carriers like FedEx and UPS by leveraging Amazon’s extensive fulfillment network and transportation infrastructure. According to EasyPost, the service delivers packages on weekends with a delivery time of two to five days. Additionally, it offers free pickups seven days a week in 15 major U.S. cities.
However, there are still some limitations as Amazon Shipping strives for market share. The service is only available to sellers on Amazon.com and serves domestic shipments within the United States; its pickup coverage has not expanded since last year.
#### Pickup Areas of Amazon Shipping in the US
The service offers pickups across 15 major metropolitan areas nationwide.
Amazon plans to address limited pickup coverage in the future, according to Michael Cox, General Manager of Global Operations for Amazon Shipping, at a seller conference last year.
“We want to go wherever there are Amazon facilities, so it’s just a matter of time,” Cox said about pickup locations.
The 2024 peak season may provide an opportunity for Amazon Shipping to capture more volume from other carriers as it aims for further growth. EasyPost notes that the service could be particularly useful for carriers during holidays by utilizing additional capacity and avoiding surcharges from other carriers. Amazon Shipping does not charge residential delivery fees or weekend delivery charges.
