Tractor Supply opens $200M Idaho DC with AI team, 80 docks

According to Supply Chain Dive, Tractor Supply has opened a new distribution center in Nampa, Idaho, representing a $200 million investment and featuring 80 truck docks, dedicated AI innovation capacity, and automated storage and retrieval systems.

Automated architecture and AI integration

The facility is the first Tractor Supply location to deploy an automated storage and retrieval system from logistics automation provider Knapp. As stated in the company’s release,

“This automated architecture is fully integrated across the operations of the distribution center, including automatic conveying systems to store, sequence and move products safely and more efficiently.”

The site will host a dedicated AI innovation team tasked with applying practical artificial intelligence to operational needs — a capability not previously deployed at any Tractor Supply facility.

Northwest U.S. coverage and supply chain impact

The Nampa center expands Tractor Supply’s distribution presence into the Northwest U.S., supporting stores across Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington. As of Dec. 27, 2025, the company operated 70 retail locations across those four states. Distribution centers are central to Tractor Supply’s logistics model: 81% of merchandise received by its stores in fiscal year 2025 came from its own distribution facility network, per a securities filing.

Strategic scale and labor impact

Craig Ledbetter, Tractor Supply’s chief supply chain officer, emphasized the facility’s role in scaling operations amid growth. He stated that

“As more people look to embrace the ‘Out Here Lifestyle’ and we continue to open new stores, this distribution center will be vital to get our customers the products they want and need.”

The company opened 28 new Tractor Supply stores in the second quarter of 2026. The Nampa site is expected to create 500 full-time jobs, and includes additional acreage for future expansion.
