New Forklift Designs Improve Load Visibility
The Toyota telescopic reach truck with a lift height of 512 inches and a load capacity of 5,500 pounds enhances productivity and operator visibility at full height.
The combination of a transparent canopy and mast design provides excellent visibility for the operator when looking up, virtually eliminating any obstruction from the load. Additionally, tilting the operator’s cabin improves visibility of the fork tips without requiring the operator to move their head. The tilt can go forward 2 degrees and backward 4 degrees, programmable according to the operator’s preference.
An intuitive touchscreen display continuously updates the driver with information on lift height, load weight, and fork tip alignment. Lasers on the forks help in picking up pallets while minimizing potential damage.
Counterbalance Forklifts Operate Without On-Site Drivers
A remotely controlled counterbalance forklift can be operated from thousands of miles away. Supplier Phantom Auto states that remote operators have the same capabilities as on-site operators. This 4,000-pound capacity forklift with a vertical lift height of 189 inches can be driven remotely.
Remote operators use onboard LiDAR safety scanners to manage the movement of the forklift, which create dynamic warning and protection zones that automatically slow down or stop the forklift when it approaches people or objects. Nine on-board cameras with custom lenses optimize the view for remote operators and provide humanized control. Additionally, onboard speakers enable two-way audio connectivity between the remote operator and on-site personnel.
Forklifts with Diverse Visibility Options
The Crown SP 1500 series order picker enhances operator safety through an innovative mid-platform window, even at full height.
Located between forklift control devices, this window allows visibility of the floor below when the load is fully raised. A large upper window provides a wide view to see pedestrians and objects in the center and on either side of the floor. An optional panoramic window above the operator provides clear sightlines to pick-up locations and overhead obstructions.
The maximum travel speed is 7.5 miles per hour. Standard lift speeds range from 71 feet per minute for 24V models, 115 feet per minute for 36V trucks, to 140 feet per minute for 48V trucks.
Articulated Order Picker Operates in 72-Inch Aisles
The Combilift Aisle-Master-OP stand-up electric forklift combines the advantages of a narrow aisle articulated forklift and a standard order picker.
This forklift comes in multiple models with load capacities ranging from 3,300 to 6,000 pounds and lift heights up to 39 feet. It can operate in aisles as narrow as 72 inches wide. The patented chain steering system allows the forklift to articulate over 205 degrees.
A low floor height of 11 inches enables operators to step into the forklift from either side, a feature that speeds up order picking compared to models requiring operators to get in and out of a seated position.
Extending Lead-Acid Battery Lifespan
A battery regenerator automatically discharges, desulfates, and restores lost capacity in lead-acid batteries. Flight Systems Industrial Products’ Xtender helps restore at least 80% of the original productivity level of these batteries.
The patented Shark Pulse technology applies negative pulses during discharge and positive pulses during charging. These pulses combined with controlled discharging and recharging cycles break down damaged hard sulfate crystals, extending battery life.
Diagnostic software provides detailed battery regeneration reports. Bluetooth functionality allows for remote monitoring of the battery, offering convenience and real-time insights.
Minimizing Potential Hazards and Enhancing Safety
Forklift operator assistance technology detects obstacles near the forklift before accidents occur, helping prevent costly injuries, spills, and damage.
The Yale Reliant technology allows operators full control of the forklift but intervenes when damaged. It alerts drivers to potential dangers but can also intervene to avoid these hazards.
For example, this technology can automatically slow down the forklift as it approaches the end of an aisle or another intersection. It can also limit speed and prevent equipment from entering certain designated areas within a facility.
Operator-Up Order Picker Reaches Heights Up to 354 Inches
This series of operator-up order pickers operates easily in narrow aisles. The series can lift loads weighing up to 2,600 pounds to heights ranging from 177 to 354 inches.
The Noblelift OPH26/OPH26K order picker features proportional lift control and real-time dynamic adjustment of travel speed with lift height. Automatic deceleration during turns enhances safety, stability, and operator comfort. These models offer various right-angle stacking capabilities.
High-capacity lithium-ion batteries support multi-shift operations. The fast charging time is 2.5 hours. Battery cells come with a warranty of five years or 10,000 hours.
Operator Safety Belt System Prioritizes Safety
A pioneering operator-assist tool that restricts forklift functionality if the operator is not properly wearing a safety belt. Raymond’s iWarehouse integrated seatbelt system also provides data collection capabilities to reinforce best safety practices.
The safety belt connects and communicates with the forklift via sensors, providing audio-visual notifications of its status. When paired with iMonitor telematics, the forklift limits travel speed to 1 mile per hour and disables lift functions until the seatbelt is properly connected. Once correctly fastened, the forklift can operate at full speed and reach full height.
In addition to monitoring during operation, this safety belt also provides reporting capabilities through data and operator connection history linked with workforce management metrics.
Automated Forklift Reaches Nearly 33 Feet in Height
Designed for operation in 10-foot wide aisles, the Rocla automated telescopic forklift has a flexible turning radius and a maximum lift height approaching 33 feet.
The dynamic stability control system continuously monitors speed, load weight, height, and extension position. Three scanners ensure safe operation under automatic guided vehicle safety standards. A unique safety feature creates a dynamic field in front of the forklift, allowing it to turn more quickly.
Load capacity is 3,500 pounds. The maximum lift/descend speed is 2.3 feet per second and 1.3 feet per second respectively. Collision detection systems ensure safe operation during load handling.
Lithium-Ion Batteries Power Two New Pallet Forklifts
Lithium-ion batteries power two new pallet forklift models from Linde: the MT15, which handles loads up to 3,000 pounds, and the MT22, designed for 4,500-pound loads.
The former can be used anywhere in a facility, including mezzanine levels. The compact chassis facilitates maneuverability.
Ergonomically designed control heads ensure precise and comfortable operation. Long and low-mounted control levers provide sufficient safety distance between the operator and forklift.
The MT22 lifts its maximum load to a height of 5 inches with a load center of 24 inches. Industrial floating stabilizer wheels offer maximum stability.
A short chassis length (18.5 inches) and small turning radius (52 inches) make it ideal for tight spaces.
Collision Avoidance
Loading dock or fixed in facility proximity detection systems can automatically prevent forklift collisions. Elokon’s ELOshield provides audio, visual, and vibration alerts to operators when pedestrians and objects are too close to the forklift.
The mobile variant can be mounted on a forklift and provide warnings. The fixed variant monitors static areas such as high-traffic aisle intersections.
Standard detection range is 40 feet but can extend up to 80 feet. There are two customizable safety zones called “warning zone” and “protection zone.”
In addition, it offers four collision avoidance features: forward collision warning, pedestrian warning, lane departure warning, and blind spot monitoring.
