Uber Freight said it doubled the number of 4PL contracts it won in Europe during 2025.
European expansion and leadership
Uber Freight is expanding its European operations with plans to open a second fourth-party logistics control center and operations hub in Krakow, Poland, and has appointed Mike Doucleff to lead its European team.
The company, ranked No. 16 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest logistics companies in North America, already operates a 4PL facility in the Netherlands.
Uber Freight plans to open the Poland hub in 2027, a company spokeswoman said in a Sept. 22 email.
Acquisition legacy and operational model
The Netherlands facility became part of Uber Freight through its 2021 acquisition of managed transportation provider Transplace for $225 million. At the time, Transplace ranked No. 13 on the Transport Topics Top 100 logistics companies list, while Uber Freight ranked No. 41.
A 4PL provider manages a customer’s entire supply chain and logistics network through an asset-light model. Unlike many third-party logistics providers, which may own assets such as trucks, warehouses and distribution centers, a 4PL provider primarily coordinates services across multiple providers.
The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals’ 2026 State of Logistics report noted that more third-party logistics providers are evolving into 4PL operators.
Leadership and strategic vision
“Logistics is global by nature, but too often it’s managed through disconnected partners and regional silos,” said Rebecca Tinucci, CEO of Uber Freight. “The more of that complexity we can bring together, the simpler and more efficient it becomes for customers to run their global supply chains. That’s the opportunity we see in Europe.”
Doucleff will lead the company’s growth efforts. He most recently oversaw U.S. market entry for Alpitronic, a European manufacturer of electric-vehicle fast-charging systems. He previously held leadership positions at Schneider Electric, including heading the company’s eMobility division.
The spokeswoman declined to disclose the size of Uber Freight’s existing European workforce or how many employees will be added through the expansion. Globally, the company employs more than 4,000 people.
