K+N weighs Apex Logistics stake sale, valued at $4.2B

According to www.aircargonews.net, Kuehne+Nagel (K+N) executives declined to confirm or deny reports that the company is evaluating strategic options for its Apex Logistics subsidiary—including a potential partial divestiture or Hong Kong listing.

Leadership stance on Apex’s strategic role

During K+N’s second-quarter 2026 investor call on 23 July 2026, Chief Financial Officer Markus Blanka-Graff acknowledged media coverage but stated:

“There is nothing that we could comment or confirm or make any statements around that other than Apex is a part of Kuehne+Nagel organisation and a very highly valued growth machine for us.” — Markus Blanka-Graff, CFO, Kuehne+Nagel

He further described Apex Logistics as a “strategic investment” and a “massive growth opportunity”. Chief Executive Stefan Paul emphasized Apex’s operational value, noting K+N leverages its charter expertise out of Hong Kong and that the unit serves as an enabler of growth—particularly for the technology sector.

Potential transaction scope and market context

Bloomberg reported earlier this week that K+N has engaged financial advisors to explore selling a 20% stake in Apex Logistics or pursuing an initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company has reportedly approached sovereign wealth funds and infrastructure funds; however, no final decision has been reached, according to people familiar with the matter.

K+N acquired the remaining 24.9% of Apex Logistics from Partners Group in 2025, in a transaction that valued the Singapore-headquartered firm at an enterprise value of more than $4 billion. At the time of acquisition, Apex operated 48 sites worldwide, serving over 20,000 customers across more than 70 countries.

Operational scale and sectoral impact

Apex Logistics serves clients across multiple high-growth verticals—including semiconductors, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, retail & fashion, perishables, and chemicals. In 2024, it moved more than 420,000 tons of airfreight—accounting for approximately 20% of K+N’s total airfreight volumes. Its charter operations are especially concentrated on the transpacific trade lane, where demand surged due to semiconductor, AI, and data centre-related shipments.

International Air Transport Association (IATA) data for May 2026 showed air cargo volumes from Asia to North America—the world’s largest trade lane—increased by 23.5% year-on-year. Apex operates more than 4,000 charter flights annually and maintains an ongoing partnership with Atlas Air Worldwide. K+N first invested in Apex Logistics in 2021.
