THG Fulfil, a fulfillment and express management service under THG Ingenuity, has introduced a fleet of Geek+ goods-to-person robots at its Omega facility in Warrington, UK, to enhance warehouse automation capabilities.

The introduction of Geek+ will enable THG Fulfil to boost warehouse performance, achieve faster delivery speeds, and increase customer retention rates as AI and automation technologies have made significant strides in improving warehouse efficiency. This expansion allows THG Fulfil to support pallet-sized items of any size through its automated solutions and drive 95% of sales units processed through some form of automation.

This investment in Warrington adds to the existing automation capabilities at THG Fulfil’s 780,000 square feet ICON facility in Manchester. With faster picking and shipping now possible, THG Fulfil upgraded over 4.2 million standard delivery orders to next-day delivery in 2023 without additional charges for customers, resulting in a 4% increase in customer retention rates. The average delivery time for THG Fulfil has also been shortened to just 1.45 days, significantly faster than the industry standard of 3-5 days.

Currently, about 50% of global customer orders are processed by automated systems. Real-time data analysis plays a critical role in THG Fulfil’s operational strategy, identifying that 27% of UK consumers shop online between 10 PM and midnight. This insight led to extending the cutoff time for next-day delivery orders until 1 AM. THG Fulfil is the only online brand or retailer in the UK offering such a late cutoff time for next-day deliveries.

Tom Killeen, COO of THG Ingenuity, commented: “THG Fulfil’s investment in AI and automation is not just about improving efficiency but redefining what’s possible in e-commerce logistics. In this rapidly evolving e-commerce environment, the need for highly efficient and reliable operations has never been greater. THG Fulfil is poised to disrupt and redefine the future of warehousing and logistics by understanding end-consumer needs, delivering high-quality, hassle-free service to customers, and setting new industry standards.”
