Valeo, a leading global automotive parts manufacturer, announced today that it has optimized its dock operations by deploying autonomous loading and unloading robots from Slip Robotics. It is reported that the use of SlipBot solutions increased truck loading and unloading speed sixfold.

One of Valeo’s biggest challenges was simplifying its truck loading and unloading process, a critical bottleneck consuming significant time and resources. According to Slip Robotics, Valeo’s journey began with an integrated supply chain analysis, revealing inefficiencies in dock operations. The repeated handling of parts between production and storage led to excessive time spent on loading trucks, slowing down the entire operation.

Without disrupting existing processes, Valeo faced the challenge of increasing throughput and required a solution that could integrate seamlessly into its workflow. Traditional methods involving forklifts and multiple product touchpoints were no longer sufficient for their growing operational demands. They needed something more innovative—a solution offering speed, safety, and ease.

Slip Robotics is renowned for streamlining truck loading and unloading. Twenty-six SlipBots have been deployed at Valeo’s Seymour facility in Indiana. These autonomous robots are integrated into the end of Valeo’s production line to directly transport finished goods onto trailers for shipment to remote warehouses. This integration reduced Valeo’s truck loading and unloading time by six times.

“We used to spend 30 minutes with a forklift to load or unload a trailer,” said Quinn Saevre, Supply Chain CIM Manager at Valeo. “Now it only takes five minutes! The increased throughput allows us to complete up to six trailer moves in the same timeframe and unlock different material flows.”

Additionally, with reduced product touchpoints and fewer forklifts around the dock area, Valeo’s operations have become smoother and safer. “Slip Robotics makes our lives easier and proves that automation is not complicated. It’s real technology,” said Lou D’Allura, Productivity Manager at Valeo.

Apart from speed and safety, Slip Robotics also offers ease through its deployment and training processes, allowing Valeo to see a return on investment in the first week of operation.

“SlipBots can be deployed in any facility without IT integration, Wi-Fi, dock modifications, or trailer alterations; this is why we were able to complete Valeo’s deployment within days,” said Mason Cole, Sales Director at Slip Robotics.
