Descartes acquires Extensiv for $120M, fourth deal of 2026

Descartes Systems Group agreed Sept. 1 to acquire Extensiv for $120 million, expanding its warehouse management, inventory management and e-commerce fulfillment capabilities.

Back-to-back acquisitions in two weeks

The acquisition is Descartes’ fourth of 2026 and follows its Aug. 24 agreement to buy AI-powered TMS provider Tai for $100 million. Descartes is scheduled to report fiscal 2027 second-quarter earnings Sept. 10 after posting 15% revenue growth and 35% profit growth last quarter.

Descartes Systems Group is set to acquire Extensiv, a supplier of software for third-party logistics providers, in a $120 million deal that marks the buyer’s second deal in a two-week span and fourth for 2026.

Extensiv, based in El Segundo, Calif., offers warehouse management and fulfillment solutions for 3PLs and their customers. Its products aid inventory and order management, business-to-business and business-to-consumer fulfillment, as well as billing.

Strategic expansion of fulfillment portfolio

Descartes said Sept. 1 the deal would expand its warehouse and inventory management capabilities and at the same time extend its 3PL and e-commerce fulfillment portfolio.

“3PLs are under constant pressure to fulfill faster, scale flexibly, and support the evolving needs of modern brands,” said Mikel Richardson, general manager of e-commerce operations at Descartes, adding that the deal would add more contextually rich operational data and fulfillment intelligence to the company’s product line.

Just over a week earlier on Aug. 24, Descartes said it would buy Tai — an artificial intelligence-powered transportation management software provider for freight brokers — for $100 million. Huntington Beach, Calif.-based Tai’s TMS executes deals across the entire shipment life cycle for truckload, less-than-truckload, drayage and cross-border brokers.

2026 acquisition spree and financial performance

Earlier in 2026, Descartes acquired Pittsburgh-based AI-driven fleet safety platform builder Idelic for at least $28 million and Chilean last-mile delivery management solutions firm Drivin for $30 million.

Descartes made three acquisitions in 2025, adding Columbus, Ohio-based TMS provider 3GTMS for $115 million, final-mile software specialist PackageRoute for $2 million and cloud-based inventory management specialist Finale Inventory for a minimum of $40 million.

Supply chain software-as-a-service specialist Descartes has built its portfolio of options for customers through standard deals, with the Extensiv purchase the 38th since the company was founded in 2016.

The company posted a profit of $48.5 million in the three months that ended April 30, up 35% compared with $36.2 million in the same period 12 months earlier. It reported revenue of $193.6 million in its most recent reporting quarter, an increase of 15% compared with $168.7 million in the year-ago period.
