In response to growing union pressure, Amazon has once again increased the wages of subcontracted delivery drivers in the United States.
The company announced on Thursday that drivers working with Amazon Delivery Service Partners (DSP) will now earn nearly $22 per hour, a 7% increase from the previous average of $20.50.
This wage hike is part of an additional $2.1 billion investment by the Seattle-based e-commerce giant in its delivery operations. Amazon does not directly employ drivers but relies on thousands of third-party companies to deliver millions of customer packages daily.
