Maersk Launches New Facility in Groveport, Ohio to Provide Omnichannel Fulfillment Services for Levi Strauss & Co.

October 9, 2024

The 1.2 million square foot facility is a key component of Levi Strauss & Co.’s consumer direct-to-consumer (DTC) strategy.

New Jersey, Flemington — Maersk Warehousing & Distribution Services USA LLC, part of A.P. Moller – Maersk, has opened a new 1.2 million square foot omnichannel fulfillment facility in Groveport, Ohio to serve Levi Strauss & Co.’s wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels. For Maersk, this marks the pinnacle of its comprehensive logistics support for LS&Co., offering end-to-end solutions from origin integration to omnichannel fulfillment. For LS&Co., the facility is a critical element in its ongoing transformation of distribution and logistics networks, aiming to significantly enhance first-class omnichannel capabilities and drive the company towards becoming DTC-first. Operations at the Groveport facility commenced in August.

We are reconfiguring our network to better meet LS&Co.’s customer needs, propel our DTC-first goals, and sustain future growth. This facility, designed and operated by Maersk, is a crucial step in our strategy towards transitioning to a hybrid distribution and logistics network that balances owned operations with technologically advanced third-party logistics (3PL) facilities for omnichannel capabilities. Overall, this will improve customer experience, capacity, on-time performance, and efficiency.

The new facility will help reduce LS&Co.’s costs while shortening container processing times and enhancing speed and efficiency. Strategically located in Groveport with its robust transportation network and labor market, the facility aligns well with LS&Co.’s market strategy, enabling the company to reach more American consumers faster.

In the coming months, Maersk’s operations team will install an advanced EuroSort system capable of handling 100 million outbound units annually. The facility will be equipped with Maersk’s latest proprietary warehouse management system (WMS) to boost operational efficiency.

We are honored to be part of Levi Strauss & Co.’s transformation journey towards modernizing and simplifying their supply chain operations. This is the 10th global facility Maersk operates for LS&Co., marking a significant milestone in a partnership built on 25 years of trusted support and service, enabling LS&Co. to focus on its core business activities and growth.

Across North America, Maersk operates over 85 warehousing facilities with a total area of approximately 22.5 million square feet. The company provides integration, deconsolidation, storage, distribution, or omnichannel fulfillment services. Learn more about Maersk’s warehousing and distribution services in North America.
