India Enterprises Face 265.52M Threat Detections Amid Third-Party Vendor Blind Spots

According to www.cxodigitalpulse.com, third-party vendor risk has emerged as a critical blind spot in India’s enterprise cybersecurity strategy — with 265.52 million threat detections recorded across more than 8 million endpoints between October 2024 and September 2025.

Escalating Threat Landscape Driven by Ecosystem Exposure

The India Cyber Threat Report 2026, published by Seqrite Labs — India’s largest malware analysis facility and the research arm of Quick Heal Technologies Limited — documents an average of 505 threat detections every minute during the reporting period. This surge reflects a structural shift: threats are no longer confined to direct network attacks but increasingly exploit trust-based relationships across software supply chains, cloud identities, OAuth integrations, and AI-assisted intrusion methods.

Researchers observed that ransomware campaigns have evolved from broad, mass-distribution models toward precision-targeted intrusions — with over 25 major global and regional cyber campaigns tracked during the year. Many relied on supply-chain infiltration or remote service vectors as initial entry points before triggering encryption or data exfiltration. Network-based exploits alone exceeded 9.2 million scans targeting internet-facing applications including WordPress plugins, Apache Tomcat, and SysAid — while enterprise platforms such as SAP NetWeaver and Oracle E-Business Suite were weaponized for large-scale compromise and lateral movement.

Systemic Visibility Gaps Undermine Defense Posture

Seqrite’s Cybersecurity Maturity Survey, conducted across more than 180 Indian organisations, reveals deep operational gaps. Only 33.7% of respondents continuously monitor their attack surface and take timely remedial action; just 41.4% consume threat intelligence to support proactive defense. Alarmingly, 56.9% were uncertain whether they had experienced a cyberattack in the previous 12 months — indicating widespread detection failures.

The survey assigned an overall maturity score of 6.3 out of 10, signaling moderate technical readiness but exposing a dangerous disconnect between security intent and ecosystem-wide visibility. As hybrid environments grow — where external vendors manage software, maintenance, integration, or hosted infrastructure — vulnerabilities often reside outside direct enterprise control yet remain within enterprise impact scope.

Regulatory Accountability Amplifies Vendor Risk

Third-party risk is especially acute due to its direct linkage to data exposure. Vendors routinely handle customer data, employee records, intellectual property, financial information, logs, credentials, and cloud workloads. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, enterprises retain full accountability for how personal data is processed across this chain of trust. A vendor compromise is therefore not merely an operational incident — it can simultaneously trigger regulatory penalties, reputational damage, and business continuity disruption.

To address this, Seqrite Data Privacy enables discovery, classification, governance, and protection of sensitive data across complex hybrid environments — clarifying not only where data resides but also who accesses it, how it moves, and where vendor-linked exposure exists. Complementing this, Seqrite Digital Risk Protection Services (DRPS) extends visibility beyond the firewall by continuously monitoring the surface, deep, and dark web for brand impersonation, spoofed domains, and exposed credentials — many of which originate through compromised third-party ecosystems.

Combined with Endpoint Security, Threat Intelligence, and Ransomware Recovery as a Service (RRaaS), Seqrite’s integrated suite delivers intelligence-led defense against ecosystem-driven threats. As noted in the report, “

Vendor access is often persistent, privileged, and poorly monitored — making a third-party support tool, exposed admin panel, insecure plugin, cloud integration, or compromised software update channel the attacker’s quietest path into the enterprise.
