Gatik raises $200 million to scale driverless freight operations to thousands of commercial routes.
Gatik, a leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, announced a $200 million Series D funding round to accelerate deployment of its driverless freight technology across North America. The company plans to expand operations from current pilot corridors into high-volume commercial lanes serving retailers, grocers, and quick-commerce platforms.
The financing brings Gatik’s total disclosed funding to over $350 million since its founding in 2017. Investors include new participants alongside existing backers such as Generation Investment Management, Koch Disruptive Technologies, and NVIDIA.
Commercial Deployment Milestones
Gatik has already deployed autonomous vehicles on revenue-generating routes in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Ontario, Canada. Its fleet has completed more than 2.5 million autonomous miles with zero at-fault accidents.
The company operates under a driver-out model for short-haul, repeatable freight runs — primarily between distribution centers and retail stores or micro-fulfillment centers. Its proprietary software stack integrates with enterprise transportation management systems (TMS) and supports real-time fleet monitoring.
Gatik’s current commercial partners include Walmart, Kroger, and Georgia-Pacific. In 2024, the company launched its first fully driverless, 24/7 autonomous freight service in Bentonville, Arkansas — a program that now handles over 1,200 weekly deliveries.
Technology and Safety Framework
Gatik’s autonomous driving system is built exclusively for Class 3–6 medium-duty trucks and does not rely on lidar as a primary sensor. Instead, it uses a fusion of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors combined with AI-trained perception models optimized for structured urban and suburban environments.
The company holds permits for driverless operation in four U.S. states and one Canadian province. All vehicles undergo rigorous validation through its proprietary Gatik Safety Assurance Process, which includes simulation testing exceeding 100 million virtual miles configuration.
“Our approach is purpose-built for the middle mile — predictable, repetitive, and safety-critical. That focus allows us to deploy at scale today, not in five years,” said Avishkar Misra, co-founder and CEO of Gatik.
