Third acquisition of 2026

Descartes Systems Group agreed to buy AI-powered freight broker TMS provider Tai for $100 million, its third acquisition of 2026. The deal adds broker transportation management capabilities and data to Descartes’ logistics network, following acquisitions of Idelic and Drivin earlier in 2026.

Tai’s capabilities and integration

Descartes Systems Group will buy Tai — an artificial intelligence-powered transportation management software provider for freight brokers — for $100 million, in what would be the Waterloo, Ontario-based company’s third acquisition of 2026. Huntington Beach, Calif.-based Tai’s TMS executes deals across the entire shipment life cycle for truckload, less-than-truckload, drayage and cross-border brokers.

“The acquisition expands our transportation management capabilities for freight brokers and adds valuable transaction, carrier and shipment execution data to the Descartes Global Logistics Network,” said Andrew Wimer, associate general manager, transportation management at Descartes.

2026 and 2025 acquisition activity

Earlier in 2026, Descartes acquired Pittsburgh-based AI-driven fleet safety platform builder Idelic for at least $28 million and Chilean last-mile delivery management solutions firm Drivin for $30 million. Descartes made three acquisitions in 2025 too, adding 3GTMS for $115 million, final-mile software specialist PackageRoute for $2 million and cloud-based inventory management specialist Finale Inventory for a minimum of $40 million.

Financial performance and corporate scale

Supply chain software-as-a-service specialist Descartes has built its portfolio of options for customers through regular deals, with the Tai deal the 37th since the company was founded in 2016. The company posted a profit of $48.5 million in the quarter that ended April 30, up 35% compared with $36.2 million in the year-ago period. It reported revenue of $193.6 million in the most recent quarter, an increase of 15% compared with $168.7 million in the same period 12 months earlier.

Earnings timeline

Descartes said it will release its second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings report Sept. 10 after reporting higher quarterly profit and revenue. Descartes will release its second-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings report Sept. 10.
