# National Average Diesel Price Rises for Third Consecutive Week, EIA Report Shows

According to data released by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average price per gallon of diesel has risen for the third consecutive week. The price increased by $0.04, reaching $3.584 in the week ending October 7. This follows a rise of $0.005 to $3.544 in the week ending September 30 and an increase of 1.3 cents to $3.539 in the week ending September 23.
Over the past three weeks, the national average diesel price has increased by 5.8 cents. Prior to this, from July 15 to September 9 over a period of ten weeks, the national average diesel price had decreased by 33.9 cents cumulatively.
Compared to the same week one year ago, the national average price is down $0.914, marking a reduction in the annual decline from $1.047 in the week ending September 30.
Currently, WTI crude oil trades at $74.32 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
