### Brief:
– EasyPost announced last week that it now offers Amazon Shipping as a shipping option for users.
– Shippers must be Amazon sellers to access Amazon Shipping rates, but they can use the service to handle orders placed outside of the e-commerce giant’s marketplace, according to Lori Boyer, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at EasyPost, in an email to Supply Chain Dive.
– Since its relaunch in 2023, Amazon Shipping has expanded its list of third-party integrations, making it easier for brands to access the service through platforms they already use. In addition to EasyPost, Amazon Shipping is integrated with ShipStation, Veeqo, Sellercloud, Descartes ShipRush, and others.
### Deep Dive:
Amazon Shipping has the potential to challenge major parcel carriers like FedEx and UPS by leveraging Amazon’s extensive fulfillment network and transportation infrastructure. The service delivers packages in two to five days, including weekends. According to EasyPost, it also offers free daily pickups from 15 major U.S. cities.
However, there are still some limitations for Amazon Shipping as it competes for market share. The service is only available to sellers on Amazon.com and serves domestic shipping within the United States, with no expansion of its pickup coverage since last year.
#### Pickup Locations for Amazon Shipping in the US
The service picks up from 15 major metropolitan areas across the country.
Amazon plans to address the limited pickup coverage issue in the future, according to Michael Cox, General Manager of Amazon Shipping Worldwide, at a seller conference last year.
“We want to be wherever there is an Amazon facility; it’s just a matter of time,” Cox said about pickup locations.
The 2024 peak season may offer Amazon Shipping an opportunity to capture more volume from other carriers as it aims for further growth. EasyPost suggests that the service could be particularly useful for shippers during holidays, utilizing additional capacity and avoiding extra fees from other carriers. Amazon Shipping does not charge residential delivery fees or weekend delivery surcharges.
